Johnny Rutherford and DIX, the Windy Ridge Boys and Soul Patch!!!!
You can't have a street fair without music! That's why we've recruited some of the most in demand local acts for this year's event.
We'll kick of the day with Lake Leelanau's own Johnny Rutherford. Johnny is long time favorite with the local community that loves his musical style and versatility. Johnny will be accompanied by DIX, the band he frequently plays with at various local venues.
Johnny and DIX will be followed to the stage byanother Leelanau County favorite the Windy Ridge Boys. Members of the Windy Ridge Boys include Joe Bottenhorn, finger pickin' guitar; Jack Dryden, upright bass; Phil Keeling, acoustic and electric guitars and Tim Sparling on the piano. The Windy Ridge Boys perform selections of jazz, blues and classic popular songs. and describe their music as "Finger pickin' jazz standards and classic Lake Leelanau blues." Their take on jazz and blues makes them a much sought after group throughout the county.
Closing out the event is Soul Patch - a Traverse City based band that's been together less than a decade, but in that time has carved out a reputation and following from music lovers who adore their blending of jazz, reggae, bluegrass and more. The current line-up has been together since 2005 and are known both for singing songs with a purpose and also for their ability to improvise. Their original music spans three decades and can only be described as eclectic. The ideas may come from any one of the three songwriters in the band. The output, says their web page, "is a sweet ride of organic grooves for your mind and feet."
